About Bryan Gunn's Appeal
Bryan Gunn's Appeal was set up by Bryan and Susan Gunn, in memory of their two-year-old daughter Francesca, who died from leukaemia in the autumn of
1992. At the time of Francesca's death Bryan was goalkeeper in Norwich City's Premiership and UEFA Cup team and also played for Scotland. He became the
club's ambassador, sponsorship manager and chief scout, and went on to manage the football club in the Championship in 2009, before parting company with
Norwich City in August 2009.
Today, Bryan is involved in the world of business information technology with OneStream, and Susan is a major contemporary artist, having won the
European Art Awards of the Sovereign Art Foundation, and exhibits her work regularly in the UK. They have two teenage children, Angus and Melissa.
You can read Bryan's blog, and keep up with all the events of the appeal as they happen!
The Appeal has done work in the research field, which you can read about on this site, and also provides information and care for anyone who needs to
know more about cancer and leukaemia - especially through our Definitions section, which is really helpful if you want more information about a word you
have heard, but don't quite understand!
The initial diagnosis of cancer or leukaemia in a child or young person, will always be a distressing and traumatic time, particularly for parents and
other close family members. Parents and other family members especially, will need a great deal of help and support. To help people to cope with some of
the emotional turmoil which such a diagnosis inevitably causes, gaps:line was set up to help meet this need.
If you know a child or young person who has cancer or leukaemia, and you would like to chat with someone about some of the issues this can raise, we
are here to help you understand what is happening and offer our support to you. You can talk to someone who has experienced something similar by ringing
gaps:line on 0845 121 4277 between 8pm and 10pm any day of the year.
Bryan Gunn's Appeal is part of The Dove Trust, which also provides fundraising services for a large number of small and medium-sized charities,
through CharityGiving, on their website www.charitygiving.co.uk.
